Last month on Valentine's Day, instead of getting wrapped up in the commercial ideals of the holiday, a small group of ladies in the cannabis community gathered to connect and collaborate over an infused brunch. Ladies of Paradise, a female-run creative agency focused on fashion and events, hosted a feel-good celebration that exuded girl power. The guests were a mix of fashionistas, photographers and ganjapreneurs who had all ditched the notion that Valentine's Day needed to look a certain way: there definitely weren't any sad gals here.
I was immediately handed a glass of rosé walking into the room and noticed just how fashionable everyone was. While walking around, it also felt really good to see so many of these stylish females wearing Blunted Objects. It's not very often the cannabis community and the fashion world collide, and it was amazing to see my two favorite interests come together in such a refreshing, modern way.
Luke Reyes of La Hoja infused dining introduces the first course as a CBD and THC-infused crispy grain salad with hearts of palm and tarragon. We smoked flower from Zeki Farms and continued with our next course: a baked chicken with infused-olive oil. It was nice to not get hit with the strong cannabis taste that overpowers everything here (you all know what I mean), less was more in this case. We puffed and passed around beautifully packaged joints by Stone Road and continued our brunch with our last (and my favorite) course: an infused panna cotta. My life was complete.
Being there was surreal in a way. I never imagined that I would be spending my Valentine's Day with a bunch of amazing girls, enjoying an infused lunch as a cannabis professional. Seeing everyone around the room with their own skillset and unique place in this industry was very inspiring and a glimpse into the future of what the industry could be.
As we were leaving, we received a sweet gift bag full of cannabis goodies I couldn't wait to enjoy. It's awesome to be in this industry and getting introduced to all these products and brands. It's just the tip of the iceberg and all so, so exciting.
Big thanks to Ladies of Paradise for hosting such a meaningful event. You can expect to hear more from them, as they are leading the future of cannabis to be female.
